“Could it be that I, just by looking at a butterfly, initiated an unintended butterfly effect? My thoughts and perceptions, my future reactions shifting as a consequence of encountering and contemplating its perfection, its magic for a moment in time? Forget about the flapping of its wings causing hurricanes on the other side of the world. What if, in the 10 minutes I took to observe this creature my world drifted a few degrees, what if the chain of consequential events are now spun off axis from what would have been had I not had this close encounter and instead carried on with my life in an earlier timeline...? This random event has most definitely changed the course of the rest of my life, for I took time and intent and I drew its image onto paper with pen and color and heart. And could it be that I, in creating this zenwork, continue this butterfly effect? Your thoughts and actions shifting as a consequence of encountering and contemplating its beauty, its spirit. Forget about the flapping of wings causing cataclysmic events on the other side of the world. What if, in the time it took to view this, your world has also shifted, ever so slightly....?” The Butterfly Effect by Jan Jenkins
