“Forever In The Wind” is an original watercolour batik that reflects my love of repeating patterns and my need to create order from chaos, to make art that provides a peaceful and meditative experience, where I lose myself in the creative process. This is one piece of a collective body of work called “In The Wind”, a series of visual artworks, along with an accompanying poem, that are based on a recurring dream I have where I rise from the ground and fly over land. The dragonflies depicted in this piece are an integral part of the Manitoba landscape and symbolize change through self-discovery and the opening of oneself to living uninhibited and in the moment, embracing authentic self. This overall design is also a repeating pattern when digitized. I created “Forever In The Wind” by hand drawing on rice paper with ink and then using watercolour with a wax resist. My creative works emerge via a tranquil, meditative process that frees me to explore and experiment with line, shape and colour.
