Jan Jenkins designs and creates variable edition original hand-pulled artist prints. Note that reproduction prints which are copies of original art done in other mediums, fall in a different category to these original artists’ prints. The difference between original hand-pulled artist prints and prints that are reproductions is that with original print works the artist is involved throughout the whole printing process. The artist creates a design with a specific printing technique in mind, prepares print blocks or plates by either drawing or cutting into them, hand colours the paper, manually inks the design plate, and puts it through a press. Jan checks and signs each individual original print in an edition to make sure that it is as she intended it to be. Because these are hand printed works, the printing editions tend to be low (around 50 or less). Click on the image below to see the varied works done in each of these designs.
